Within the Kentucky Farm Bureau
Insurance Companies, there are many different departments,
and within each department, many different
positions. We constantly strive to fill each position with the right person.
As an employee is promoted or advances, it is our quest to find qualified

structure and assume duties for which they are qualified.

The following is an overview of
our departments.
Accounting and Finance
Accounting and Finance is composed of three functional areas of responsibilities: General
Accounting, Finance and Payroll.
General Accounting records all receipts and disbursements of the
company and, at regular intervals, prepares statements on the financial
condition of Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Companies.
Finance is responsible for the investment of company funds and
monitors the company’s cash flow on a day-to-day basis. This includes daily collection and processing of premium payments, and the
preparation of periodic investment, performance, and compliance reports.
Payroll is responsible for the preparation and distribution of
employee pay and assists employees through controlling voluntary deductions.
This function also requires constant monitoring of government regulations
affecting wages.
Administrative Services
Administrative Services provides quality internal support
services with an emphasis on cost and expense reduction. These functions
include purchasing, word processing, all lines typing, quality control,
voice communications, forms control and design, office space planning,
design and development, housekeeping, recycling, real estate, special
events, safety and security. This division also oversees fleet
administration
Agency Support and Marketing
A wide variety of insurance
products are marketed to Farm Bureau members in Kentucky by our agents.
Agents are independent contractors, not employees of Kentucky Farm Bureau
Insurance Companies. The position of a Kentucky Farm Bureau agent includes:
cultivating new business and new Farm Bureau members,
recruiting and developing a full complement of insurance agents,
and coordinating and communicating the activities of Agency Support and
Marketing with Kentucky Farm Bureau leaders throughout the state.
In the field,
Kentucky is divided into six sales districts, each
led by an Agency Support and Marketing Manager who
supports the sales activities of agents in the assigned area.
At headquarters, Agency Support and
Marketing is responsible for the maintenance of production records,
agent contracting and licensing, coordinating training efforts,
communications and development of marketing programs.
Claims
Customer
claims are interpreted and either settled or denied based on compliance with
statutes, regulations and case law. A position in
the Claims department requires good public
relations skills, diplomacy and a deep understanding of Kentucky Farm Bureau
Insurance Companies’ policies and philosophy. Claim
Offices are located throughout the state.
Human Resources
Human
Resources implements employment policies and monitors legislative
requirements affecting the workplace. In addition to providing employment
recordkeeping and directing the employee benefit and wellness programs,
Human Resources supports all departments in manpower planning, recruiting
and skills testing. They also assist in employee counseling, recognition,
orientation, education, training, development and performance evaluations.
Special activities for the benefit of all employees, including employee
communications and the employee newsletter, are also coordinated by this
department.
Information Technology
Information
Technology is a service department supporting
the information needs of all departments within the company. This department is composed
of three areas of responsibility: Computing and Network Services,
Production Systems and
Application Development.
Computing and Network Services is responsible for the
mainframe and distributed platforms, technical support,
security administration, data administration and mainframe operations. They
also oversee network communications, the Help Center, Field Services and
end-user computing tools and training. Document assembly, mail processing
and the print center are also administered by Computing and Network
Services.
Production Systems is responsible for system
design, programming and production support for all corporate production
systems, and the management of projects to enhance and maintain these
systems.
Application Development is responsible for
providing technology-based business solutions, business process redesign,
and the project management, system design, and programming required to
accomplish these solutions.
Legal
Legal provides support for the
Executive Vice President and all departments of the Company. Some of
its primary functions include:
providing legal counsel and service,
monitoring extra-contractual litigation against the company, assisting in
maintenance of corporate records, participating in legislative activities,
overseeing the Subrogation Unit and monitoring company compliance.
Market Research and Actuarial
Market Research and Actuarial is
primarily responsible for the research, assessment and
evaluation of the insurance market and the insurance products that serve
this market. Members of the department collect and analyze
company and industry data, perform competitive
analysis, make recommendations as to the adequacy
and equity of company rate structures, analyze
company products, assist in establishing company
profit and production goals,
perform customer research, assist in the design and development of new
products, develop new market research techniques and conduct market studies.
Underwriting
The Underwriting
Area is responsible for reviewing and underwriting
Kentucky Farm Bureau’s property, casualty
and agency insurance. Individual risks are
reviewed and eligibility standards applied. An essential
responsibility of the Underwriting Area is working with the Agency Support
and Marketing Team to help achieve and maintain corporate profitability.
Underwriting is divided into four functional areas: Underwriting
Administration, Agency Underwriting Support, Underwriting Services and Policy Services.
Underwriting Administrationunderwrites
automobile, boat, homeowner, farmowner, mobile homeowner, fire, commercial
package policy and both personal and commercial umbrella
business policies. Underwriting also handles policies assigned to us by the
Kentucky Automobile Insurance Plan. Another function of Underwriting
Administration is the Kentucky Farm Bureau Brokerage Agency, Inc. The Agency
provides coverages of lines of insurance or individual risks which cannot be
written in the Farm Bureau Companies for various reasons.
Agency Underwriting Support assists all key
areas necessary for growth, profitability and service to Kentucky Farm
Bureau Agencies and customers. The team assists in settling policy growth
goals and provides the tools, support and focus needed by the agencies to
market new business and to be profitable.
Underwriting Services is responsible for
systems development, product enhancement and compliance with legal and
regulatory standards and coordinates training for Kentucky Farm Bureau
agency staff and underwriting personnel.
Policy Services provides various services to
policyholders through the Customer Service Department. They provide the
insured with timely information regarding questions on changes in insurance
coverage and billings. Other functions include auto and all-lines
processing, micrographics, records control and imaging. Additionally, this
division is responsible for insurance safety programs and providing user
support for the development of new systems and maintenance of existing
systems.
